La Rural Exhibition Centre in Buenos Aires, Alimentaria Exhibitions and Reed Exhibitions Argentina have reached an agreement to terminate the contract instituting the joint staging of the Alimentaria Mercosur show – Alimentaria's sister event held in the Argentine capital – by the three parties. As a result, the annual Alimentaria Mercosur event will be discontinued. This agreement among the organisers entails the immediate cancellation of what was to be the next edition of the show, in June 2010.

The organisers of Alimentaria Mercosur have reached this decision following the joint staging of three editions in 2007, 2008 and 2009, and in the face of the 'rather unfavourable' market situation in certain South American countries. Another factor is current circumstances surrounding planned partnerships with Argentinian organisations and associations for the sector.

However, neither La Rural nor Alimentaria Exhibitions and Reed Exhibitions Argentina rule out the possibility of taking up the project again 'as soon as the favourable conditions necessary for the show's future viability and competitiveness develop'.
