Alimentaria Mercosur prepares its second edition for 12 to 14 August
 

Alimentaria Mercosur 2008 Buenos Aires (Argentina) will take place in the Predio Ferial La Rural from 12 to 14 August. The most important food and beverages trade fair of the region is finalising its preparations to launch the second edition of the challenge. The Latin-American version of the event, already well established in Barcelona, Lisbon and Mexico, will be held for the second consecutive year in the Argentinean capital after the success it obtained in 2007 with more than 12,800 visitors.

According to previsions made, Alimentaria Mercosur is expecting the participation of 450 exhibitors, manufacturers and distributors from the food and beverages sector from over 30 countries, and to be visited by over 12,000 international professionals. The latest trade fair launch by Alimentaria Exhibitions signifies another step for the Alimentaria brand in its strategy of expansion. Similarly, it is one of the most important food and beverage trade fairs in the world and already counts on support from approved shows consolidated in Barcelona, Lisbon and Mexico D.F.

Furthermore, in parallel with the exhibition, the date also includes a collection of activities such as the 28th Argentinean Supermarket Conference run by CAS-FASA, an initiative which will represent an important meeting point between industry leaders and representatives who will debate the future of the sector.

Similarly, the 7th Food and Beverage Business Round run by Fundación Export.Ar will be the space chosen to do business with the world by bringing together local firms and foreign businessmen from all over the world. In the last edition a total of 361 business meetings took place.

In turn, the 2nd Food Forumwill allow the professionals from the sector to attend debates on quality, food and beverage security, crisis management and technology, amongst others.

New to Alimentaria Mercosur 2008
In 2008 Alimentaria Mercosur will offer a varied proposal of new spaces and activities of interest to professionals such as Pastelería y Cocina Maestra (Cakes, Pastries, and Gourmet Cooking) -where Argentina’s most prestigious cake and pastry master chefs will be preparing raw ingredients and vanguard flavours live; Coffee Time, a space attended by industry professionals and offering a carefully selected menu of coffees where you will be informed on each product and its preparation, or VinAr, an exceptional opportunity to delve more deeply into the world of winemaking, oenology and matching.

The most delicate and refined flavours from gourmet products will have their space in Alimentos Premium (Premium Foods), dedicated to their sampling, and the best gastronomy of the country will be present in the Gastronomic Tendencies congress, the place where the most reputed chefs in Argentina will demonstrate the latest culinary tendencies and innovations.

Similarly, Alimentaria Mercosur dedicates this edition to other initiatives, such as the Book Store space, where you can obtain the latest in bibliography related to ingredients, drinks, recipes, diets and everything dealing with the culinary world. Also Food Education, where all of the educational and training opportunities from the most prestigious Gastronomic Institutions and Schools, with the most varied range of qualifications and courses related to culinary activity, can be found.

Alimentaria Mercosur is organised by Alimentaria Exhibitions, Reed Exhibitions Argentina and La Rural Predio Ferial of Buenos Aires. It is aimed exclusively at professionals and sector businesspeople: supermarket leaders, distributors, importers and international food brokers, wholesalers and providers to the food industry.
