Integral vision of the sustainability in food production
This presentation will present the main environmental and social impacts derived from food production
worldwide. In addition, the new EU policies and strategies (Green deal, Field-to-table strategy, Biodiversity
Directive, Sustainable Development Goals...) will mean a drastic change in improving the sustainability
(environmental, economic and social) of food production chains, placing it as an international leader in
changing the sustainable production model and promoting circular economy models.
The speaker will review the lines of R + D + i related to improving the sustainability of food production and
consumption. Finally, the concepts of the life cycle assessment (LCA) methodology for environmental,
economic, and social impact assessment will be presented.
