Kitu Snack is the brand of tropical and Andean vegetable chips manufactured and distributed by Kitu Foods. After four years’ hard work, the company from Bilbao has carved out a niche for itself in the gourmet appetiser segment and it will visit Alimentaria with its snacks in keeping with the new trends advocating natural, more authentic, sustainable and environment-friendly food.
Their chips, with a crispy texture and natural flavours, are made by using hand-selected vegetables sourced from fair and responsible trade with small-scale producers in the equatorial region. This form of working enables the company to ensure that the entire production chain respects the environment and the social milieu.
Kitu Snacks are handmade at an altitude of 2,500 metres in the Andean highlands of Ecuador by means of a low-temperature process, in small batches of between 15 and 20 kg to prevent the formation of acrylamides and the absorption of any oil or fat.
None of the brand’s products contain any of the 14 food allergens. Kitu Snack has also obtained the kosher, V-label (vegan), gluten-free and non-GMO (transgene-free) quality certificates.
