60% of the space at Restaurama 2020 booked, nine months before it begins

Together with Hostelco, the event constitutes the largest international platform for the Horeca channel

Around 6,300 m2 of the exhibition area of the Catering and Food event outside Alimentaria’s umbrella (60% of the total) has already been booked and the intention is to bring together around 300 exhibitors. Next year’s Restaurama will reinforce its partnership with Hostelco, theInternational Exhibition of Equipment, Machinery and Services for Catering, Hospitality and Collectivities, so as to continue to expand and to project itself to the world as the main platform for the food, gastronomy and catering equipment industries.

Restaurama 2020, which will be held within Alimentaria from 20th to 23rd April 2020 at Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via venue, will provide excellent business opportunities for food companies targeting the Horeca channel and the foodservice divisions of the large multinational firms. Its favourable prospects are being confirmed as many as nine months before its starting date, as it has already hired out 60% of its exhibition space (around 6,300 m2 of the estimated 10,500 m2 envisaged).

Antoni Llorens, president of Restaurama and Serunión Elior, declares that “Restaurama is playing its trump card by welcoming companies from the foodservice sector and the most influential professionals from the Horeca channel” and adds that “it constitutes a true shop window for a sector that regards it as the platform for gaining access to new business opportunities, reinventing itself and establishing first-rate professional contacts. It will also display solutions for challenges such as the digital environment, new eating habits, sustainability, internationalisation and productivity”. Thus, firms such as Damm, Aguas Danone, Unilever, Coca-Cola, Makro, Europastry, Sosa Ingredients, Campofrío Food Group, Guzmán Gastronomía, Grupo Maheso, Grupo Cacaolat, IllyCaffè, Erlenbacher Backwaren, Euralis Gastronomie and Bridor will present their new products at the trade show, which is establishing itself as an international benchmark within the sector.

Similarly, it will be attended by companies that form part of the CEHE (Spanish Hospitality Business Confederation in its Spanish initials), an entity with which Alimentaria Exhibitions has recently signed a partnership agreement to jointly promote the trade show.

Restaurama’s impressive history has increased the interest in attending the exhibition among companies from Germany, France, Italy, Portugal and Taiwan, while we should also highlight the high degree of internationalisation of its visitors, establishing it as the main event in the sector in Spain and one of the most prestigious ones on the international stage.

Alimentaria and Hostelco, the great platform

The fact that it will be held at the same time as Hostelco for the second time in a row will once again provide the sector with a great platform for the Horeca channel. Thus, Restaurama and Hostelco will jointly occupy over 30,000 m2 and they hope to bring together more than 800 exhibiting firms and 47,500 visitors from the Horeca channel, including 1,800 guest strategic buyers from 75 countries.

In this regard, J. Antonio Valls, managing director of Alimentaria Exhibitions, states that “these figures endorse the strategic decision to pool the synergies of Restaurama and Hostelco to shape the largest platform devoted to the food, gastronomy and catering equipment industries”.

As for Antoni Llorens, he maintains that “the partnership established by the two trade shows confers a unique position on Restaurama, boosting its spectacular growth and establishing it as a European benchmark for the Horeca channel”.

Tradition, innovation and territory

In the field of activities, the schedule of The Experience Live Gastronomy, the Restaurama and Hostelco area devoted to live gastronomy, will place value on sustainable cookery, the territory, the producer-chef binomial, the recovery and dignification of traditions such as the offal trade, research into the food of the future, halal culinary proposals and the most innovative solutions for collective catering and other trends and topics of interest.

In the different spaces assigned to cooking shows sessions, workshops and talks, an array of the finest chefs on the domestic and international stages will find inspiration in the products and raw materials in their immediate environment, developing their most genuine creations while catering for tradition and sustainability. In some cases, in order to embody this inseparable link between raw materials and cooking, the chefs will explain their dishes in the company of their main suppliers of ingredients from land and sea.

Similarly, The Experience’s partners and collaborating organisations will present innovations and proposals of great interest to professionals from the sector, while the Chef of the Year and Waiter of the Year competitions will once again be held.

A prestigious committee

Restaurama’s Organising Committee will be made up of a select group of representatives from the sector and chaired by Antoni Llorens, chairman and managing director of Serunión Elior, thus endorsing the trade show’s strategic lines.

The committee will include Patricia Fernández de Arroyabe, head of the AECOC Horeca Channel, Jordi Gallés, chief executive of Europastry, S.A., José Manuel León, director of Strategic Horeca Customers at Makro Spain and Portugal, Jordi Pujol i Medina, president of Adiscat, José Luis Yzuel, president of the CEHE (Spanish Hospitality Business Confederation), Massimo Saggese, managing director of IllyCaffè S.P.A., Àngels Solans, managing director of Unilever Food Solutions, Jordi Vila, managing director of Uve Solutions, and Pablo Vilanova, head of Strategy and Marketing at Mercabarna.

Alimentaria 2020 is preparing a unique trade show with renewed contents, chiefly aimed at enhancing its entrepreneurial nature and projecting gastronomy as its differential value, with the hallmark of innovation that characterises the event. The trade show will seek to reaffirm the levels of internationalisation achieved during the previous event, which was attended by 4,500 exhibiting companies (1,000 of them from 70 different countries) and around 150,000 professionals (45,000 of them from 156 different countries).
