I have heard of Alimentaria as a show for quality product but have not actually visited the show.
When the Hosted Buyer programme reached out to me, I decided to squeeze Alimentaria into my travel schedule this year and forgo an Asian show as I am currently sourcing for both Singapore and Malaysia.

Alimentaria show is one of the largest in the world, from which we have been able to import a variety of products for marketing in Paraguay, such as wines, champagne and beer. It is always new to be able to attend the fair to accompany the avant-garde that characterises it, the quality level of the exhibitors and the diversity of offers from different countries, which makes it extremely attractive for the expansion of our portoflio.
It will be my first time at Alimentaria, but the show is very familiar to me as I have received the best reviews from colleagues in terms of organisation, quality of the venue and exhibitors, so I am looking forward to making great contacts that will lead to excellent bi-national business relationships. I find the Hosted Buyers programme a great help as it makes interaction between buyers and sellers easy and possible.
Fino Foods Australia has been visiting Alimentaria for many years now and we are pleased to participate again in 2024. Alimentaria is a fantastic event where we are able to explore many of the artisan producers in Spain who are leaders in their craft. We are also able to visit other producers we have developed business relationships with. Many exhibitors we have met at Alimentaria have become valued suppliers for our business in Australia.
Our visits to Alimentaria have always been (and are) fruitful, it is a fasntastic venue to meet existing and new Spanish and International manufacturers from all food categories. We hope to return to Hong Kong with several new products ready to be imported and served to our guests in 2024. While nowadays most of communications and deals can be done on remote, there is nothing better than tasting together, and closing deals while seeing each other and enjoying nice food.
I am very excited to have the opportunity to visit Alimentaria. It will be my first year and first time in Barcelona, and I am very excited about the opportunity to start doing business with Spain, as we do with so many other countries. In our company we have a target that 7% of our sales, which represented U$1.2billion in 2023, will come from imported products. And I am sure that Spanish products can be one of our main suppliers.
