‘Slow’ and signature ratafia

A gourmet re-reading of a traditional liqueur, with artistic concerns and limited edition labels

It’s called MAUS®, it’s a smooth ratafia (16% alc.) with limited edition labels by different artists and it arrives at Alimentaria 2022 with a renewed version of this traditional liqueur. It is a slow ratafia because it is designed to be drunk slowly and because its low alcohol content and low sugar content are in line with today’s slow values: proximity and a more conscious way of doing and living.

MAUS® is a young project that was conceived during the first confinement due to Covid in 2020 among a group of five friends who love ratafia. The brand offers a gourmet re-reading of this drink, on the inside and on the outside.

Inside, the formulation is MAUS®’s own, containing around 20 carefully selected spices and an artisanal tincture made with walnuts from a local producer in Palau d’Anglesola (Lleida). The production is carried out in a traditional way, through a process of maceration with alcohol and green walnuts for at least three months in American oak barrels.

On the outside, MAUS® offers a single product with limited edition labels from different artists chosen by the brand’s creators themselves. And when a label runs out, it is not repeated. The first edition of MAUS® (July, 2021) was 9000 bottles with labels by Ferran Palau, Albert Madaula and Blanca Miró.

In addition, MAUS® is a cultural catalyst that has as its central axis an online fanzine where different creators are interviewed, whether or not they have a direct relationship with the brand.
