Calabizo, the first 100% vegetable pumpkin chorizo, comes to Alimentaria from the Galician company Fiablone, which is also presenting a new product: chickpea and spinach stew.

The company’s flagship product, Calabizo, is made from pumpkin, onion, garlic and spices, using the traditional method (cured and smoked with oak wood). Its smell, texture, appearance and taste is like the usual chorizo, but without animal protein or cholesterol, low in calories, rich in fibre and antioxidants.

The new chickpea and spinach stew presented at Alimentaria is a vegan version of the traditional stew, made with calabizo and 100% plant-based ingredients. It is a prepared dish, ready to heat (3 minutes in the microwave) and eat.

The creator of these products is Fiablone, a start-up founded by three Galician entrepreneurs (an agricultural engineer, an economist and a cook) in 2016. The brand only uses additive-free and 100% plant-based ingredients and only produces products with an organic seal, i.e. when certified organic raw materials are available, so production is limited.

In addition, Calabizo brand products are made with national raw materials as close as possible to the place where the company carries out its activity (Nigrán, Pontevedra), with the aim of reducing the carbon footprint throughout production.
