‘Coffee, Bakery & Pastry’ to double its exhibi-tion space at Alimentaria + Hostelco 2026

The Coffee, Bakery & Pastry trade fair will occupy the entire hall 7 of Gran Via de Fira de Barcelona, more than 5,500m2, which is double the size of the first edition in 2024, and is thus consolidating its position as the benchmark meeting point for the coffee, bakery and pastry sectors. The Alimentaria + Hostelco trade fair platform reinforces its commitment to this project, which will feature more than 170 companies and a more complete, international and ambitious offer.

The coffee, bakery and patisserie sector will be one of the main protagonists at the next edition of Alimentaria + Hostelco, reflecting the success of a business model and sector on the rise. The project will present the most complete offer of the national and international sector, with 40% of companies from outside Spain, both food and beverage and equipment, complements and accessories aimed at the retail industry, large-scale distribution and the horeca channel. In addition, it will continue to strengthen its chocolate, cocoa, milk, ice cream, water filters, crockery, pizzeria and improvers segments. Numerous companies from the sector have already confirmed their participation, including Cafés Novell, Cafés Pont, Cafés El Criollo, Coffee is incapto, Coffee Center, La Spaziale, Bongard, Farinera Coromina, Monbake, Panabad, Pastisart, Wiesheu and Zeelandia.

This common area of Alimentaria + Hostelco, which will take place from 23 to 26 March next year at Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via exhibition centre, has established itself as an essential event for professionals in the sector, offering a unique platform for networking, innovation, business and internationalisation. Precisely in order to boost business with strategic markets for exports of national production, the show organisers will invite more than 70 buyers specific to this sector from European and Latin American countries. Furthermore, 31% of all visitors to Alimentaria + Hostelco, close to 110,000 professionals, have an interest in the horeca channel.

The exponential growth of this sector confirms the market’s interest in this trend on which we are betting with more space, more companies and an innovative programme of activities designed by leading professionals and which will cover the entire value chain, from production to retail and the horeca channel”, highlights Pere Taberner, president of Hostelco.

New activities

Coffee, Bakery & Pastry will include, among other activities, one dedicated to coffee, with competitions, demonstrations and tastings. The Coffee Stage will host the final of the first barista championship for catering students promoted by Fórum Café. There will also be “The Coffee Route“, an initiative that will take visitors on a tour of the entire coffee value chain, from the coffee growers and micro-roasters to the big brands and the most advanced machinery.

The Bakery & Pastry Hub area will showcase the latest trends in the bakery and pastry sector with the aim of understanding how the trade is changing, how new ingredients and technologies are emerging, and how the role of the artisan is being redefined in an increasingly global, technological and sustainable world. In addition, a prize will be awarded for the best artisan bread in a competition sponsored by Alimentos de España (Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA).

In this way, Alimentaria + Hostelco 2026 are clearly committed to promoting synergies between the retail, horeca and food service sectors in order to respond to the main challenges of an industry in the midst of transformation. To this end, Coffee, Bakery & Pastry has the backing of the main sector associations and organisations such as Fórum Café, AECafé, FACYRE, ASEMAC and the Gremi de Flequers de Barcelona.

Currently, the café, bakery and coffee shop segment in Spain is made up of 3,505 establishments, distributed among more than 150 operators. The market is registering annual growth of over 3%.

Connecting industry and hospitality of the future

Alimentaria + Hostelco 2026 will consolidate its role as a leading international platform for the food and beverage industry and the food service channel, with a firm commitment to fostering synergies between the retail, food service and horeca sectors. The next edition, which will be held from 23 to 26 March 2026 at Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via exhibition centre, will have the broadest sectoral support to date and will bring together the most comprehensive and cross-sectoral offer in the market. With more than 3,300 exhibiting companies, 30% of which are international, and a floor space of more than 100,000 m², the event will showcase the latest innovations in the sector and reinforce its global dimension, with the participation of some 900 companies from 70 countries. In addition to the already well-established representations, there are those of Italy, China, Turkey, Austria, Germany, several south-east Asian countries and Poland, which will be the country of honour. In total, around 15,000 m² will be devoted exclusively to international representation.
